At the preview of the Australian Film Festival 2010 in Chennai, Peter Varghese, the Australian High Commissioner to India appealed to AR Rahman to work with the Australian directors to strengthen the ties between the two countries. At a time when racist attacks against Indians are prevalent in Australia, Mr. Varghese feels that this would act as a bridge for good ties.
He suggested that the Australian director Baz Luhrmann and AR Rahman work together soon. Incidentally, the director’s film Australia was showcased in the preview.
