A. R Rahman is scheduled to appear at London’s Southbank Centre as part of the Alchemy Festival this spring. The Oscar-winning composer will host a performance of his most famous work, namely the music from the multi-award winning movie, Slumdog Millionaire.

The Alchemy Festival is a 5-day event which seeks to celebrate Indian culture within the UK. This year the festival is due to take place between April 5th and April 11th. A. R Rahman will be in very good company during his appearance at the capital as a whole host of other big names from the world of UK bhangra are due to perform.

The Southbank Centre’s very own resident arts choreographer, Gauri Sharma Tripathi, will appear during the 5-day event, as will well-known DJ and radio presenter Nihal Arthanayake. The Grewal family who were the Asian British family who starred in Channel 4 reality TV show, The Family, are also due to make an appearance. A number of top bhangra dance performances will take place, as well as yoga classes and musical recitals.

A.R Rahman’s performance at the London event comes just months after he headlined another festival on the other side of the world. Such is the multi-talented musician’s appeal that he was invited to perform at The Sydney Festival in January of this year.

Tickets for The Alchemy Festival are due to go on sale this Friday, however members of the Southbank Centre will have the opportunity to secure tickets before the general release date.
