Arun, New Delhi, Aug 14, DHNS:

If it was Shakira at the football World Cup, it will be A R Rahman at the Commonwealth Games. The music maestro will enthrall the spectators at the opening ceremony of the CWG.
The music composer and producer and singer has been drafted by the CWG authorities and the Union government to take the lead role in the ceremony, billed as the most attractive of the events of the CWG. To be held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, which has a seating capacity of 70,000, the 15-day extravaganza will be kicked off at 7 pm on October 3. Singer Kavita Seth will be among those who will perform at the opening ceremony.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who on Saturday convened a meeting in the light of a controversy of financial irregularities and construction delays in the run-up to the CWG, was briefly told of the highlights of the opening ceremony.
