A.R.Rahman's Oscar outfit: A charcoal tux

As the Oscar countdown zeroes down to the final ceremony, happening early morning today, Indian Standard Time, at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, DT has learnt that AR Rahman will not have a wardrobe very different from his usual preference.

The Mozart of Madras, who has been nominated in two categories this year – Best Original Score and Best Original Song (“If I Rise”) for Danny Boyle’s “127 Hours”, will walk down the awards ceremony’s Red Carpet wearing a Corneliani tuxedo, while for his performance, he will don a “lovely black sherwani by Karan Johar and Varun Bahl,” Rahman’s stylist, Vijayeta Kumar, told DT. Rahman’s wife, Saira, will be wearing an off white and gold Indo-western ensemble by Rahul Mishra – a sherwani teamed with cigarette pants and a stole.
