AR Rahman's daughter in hospital

Music maestro  AR Rahman’s youngest daughter Raheema was admitted to a super speciality hospital in the Bandra Kurla Complex yesterday morning.

Rahman, who prefers to keep his family life away from the limelight, apparently shifted her to a Mumbai hospital from Chennai for better medical facilities and greater privacy.

Even the people close to Rahman are not aware of the exact complication Raheema has suffered. A source close to Rahman says he was very upset when he came to know that the matter had already come to the attention of the media.

Later in the night, Rahman issued a statement saying, “For the past three nights, I have been playing a loving father to my daughter. No music, nothing. I want to sincerely thank all my friends and family members for their prayers and good wishes. God has been kind and Raheema is recovering fast.”

In his typical modest manner, the composer thanked the media for not invading his personal space. “I want to thank all my friends from the media for their support and understanding of the situation and for respecting our privacy.”

Music maestro A R Rahman’s daughter Raheema was admitted to a hospital here following cardiac problems.

The 11-year-old was reportedly admitted for a congenital heart defect and was operated upon by doctors on Wednesday night.

“For the past 3 nights, I have been playing a loving father to my daughter. No music, no nothing. I want to sincerely thank all my friends and family members for their prayers and good wishes. God has been kind and Raheema is recovering fast,” Rahman wrote on his Twitter page.

“I also want to thank all my friends from the media for their support and understanding of the situation and for respecting our privacy,” he added.

The 44-year-old Oscar winning musician known as the ‘Mozart of Madras’ has two more children – daughter Khatija, 14 and five-year-old son, Aameen with wife Saira Banu.
