A.R. Rahman has been treating the entire world to amazing music! From Kollywood to Bollywood and Hollywood, fans from all parts of the world love his earthy beats. As A.R. Rahman continues to grow as an artist, we can’t help but to take a look back at one of his classic tunes, “Kehna Hi Kya” from the Bollywood film Bombay.

The film was originally created in Tamil and then went on to be dubbed in Hindi. Arvind Swamy and Manisha Koriala are the film’s leading couple and their chemistry and ability to portray strong emotions made this film a hit!

Bombay is far from the typical Bollywood love story. The film focused on a controversy that was stirred up in 1992-1993 regarding a mosque. The religious conflicts and riots were portrayed in Bombay without hesitation. Because of its daring theme, the film was praised by critics and fans alike. The movie’s music also caught on like wildfire.

Unfortunately, due to the sensitive subject, countries such as Singapore and Malaysia decided to not show Bombay, but it still went on to win National Film Awards, Filmfare Awards, and other awards internationally.

The eight-track soundtrack offered something for all moods. While “Kehna Hi Kya” portrays desperation and confusion “Tu Hi Re” is one of the most romantic songs ever. For a more fun vibe listen to “Kuchi Kuchi” and if you want to get up and dance blast “Humma Humma.”

Whether A.R. Rahman composes tracks for a film that requires romantic and cheesy songs or a movie with a deeper message, he pulls through with amazing music! Do you still enjoy listening to “Kehna Hi Kya?”
