AR Rahman – Soul connection
The musical genius. Simply because all his compositions originate from the keyboard of his soul. The Roja man has come a long way since that classic soundtrack emerged in the early ’90s. From then to now, he’s mesmerised us with his unusual melodies, be it the joyous Masakali (Delhi 6), the peppy Roobaroo (Rang De Basanti) or the poignant Kho gaye hai (Zubeida). Rahman is undoubtedly one of the few Indians who has achieved that critical transition from being a national icon to being a globally recognised musician – what with his series of wins at the Oscars, Grammys and Baftas. This master composer has constructed a web so expansive that the entire world pauses to listen to his melodies. Having changed the sounds of music forever, Rahman is truly impregnable.
