GoM approves A R Rahman Song for the Opening Ceremony of CWG

New Delhi: Group of Ministers (GoM) met on Sunday to take important decisions on CWG. In the meeting GoM approves the A R Rahman song for the opening ceremony of CWG. Suresh Suresh Kalmadi, the chairman of the beleaguered Organising Committee of the Commonwealth Games was also present at the music launch. The theme song is still in progress and need some final touches.

Everyone liked the song composed by Rahman. Jaipal Reddy said, “We discussed the theme song among ourselves and AR Rahman, (Film Director) Shyam Benegal and (Producer) Bharat Bala. The GoM has approved the theme song in principle. It will be before public in another 10 days.”

He added, “The theme song ‘Swagatham’ will be the last song of the opening ceremony.” According to the composer A R Rahman, the theme song is full of energy and generates excitement and gives the right message. He wants to dedicate the song to Mahatma Gandhi.

GoM has voiced their satisfaction over the pace of progress in preparations. Urban Development Minister S Jaipal Reddy, in the meeting stated that there is no change in schedule of CWG.

GoM was chaired by urban development minister S. Jaipal Reddy. I&B minister Ambika Soni, Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit, filmmaker Shyam Benegal, who heads the CWG cultural committee and other GoM members were present in the meeting.
