I do my best and leave the rest to God: A.R. Rahman

After bagging two Grammy awards, A.R. Rahman has become an international rage. Right from the World Classic Tamil Conference to the Commonwealth Games and a whole lot of film projects, this maestro is one of the most sought after musicians in the world.

The latest news is that the Mozart of Madras will be performing live at the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi to be held in October this year. According to an announcement made by Suresh Kalmadi, chairman of the organising committee, ARR has also composed a theme song for the Games and it is reported that he will be performing live on the opening day.

This song will be released in advance so that people have time to get familiar with it. Sources add that many Bollywood celebrities will also be a part of this event.
It may be recalled that ARR’s performance at the grand finale of Indian Premiere League 3 in Mumbai was a runaway hit. He has also composed a special tune for the Champions League Twenty20.

Meanwhile, sources report that tickets for Rahman’s whirlwind world tour Jai Ho — The Journey Home World Tour which begins in the US on June 11 at the Nassau Coliseum in New York have already been sold out and there are huge expectations from his concert. The event will span across 16 major cities worldwide. Incidentally, Rahman also topped a poll as the world’s most downloaded Indian artiste. When asked what he feels about his success, in his characteristic humble manner the musician replied, “I do my best and leave the rest to God”.
