Mani Ratnam and Ranbir Kapoor (Pics: Sampurn Pix) CHENNAI: The media was full of stories of ‘Raavan’s dismal performance at the box office, but nothing much is known about how ‘Raavanan’, the Tamil version of the film, had fared. But fact remains that the film’s satellite release rights were sold for Rs.5 Crores, a record by itself.Meanwhile, Mani Ratnam has decided to kick-start his next untitled Hindi film. With Ranbir Kapoor in the lead, the rest of the star-cast would be finalized shortly. Unlike his magnum opus ‘Raavanan’, this will be completely shot in the cosmopolitan cities with a major portion being filmed in London. Previously Mani Ratnam had planned to make the film a bilingual with Silambarasan donning the lead role. This time however, Mani is not going to make a Tamil version. Veteran cinematographer PC Sriram and music director AR Rahman have been signed up for this film.
