New Delhi, Oct 3 (IANS) India’s music sensation A.R. Rahman belted out ‘Jiyo Utho Badho Jeeto’ to bring the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony Sunday to an electrifying climax, as the crowds echoed him in equal measure.

Rahman, clad in a white bandhgala jacket, black pants and white shoes, performed the Commonwealth Games 2010 anthem with hundreds of dancers dressed in traditional Indian costumes.

As the spectators joined him, much of the flak the Oscar winning composer has faced for the Rs.500 million Commonwealth Games 2010 anthem seemed to have been washed away.

Fireworks went off and then ‘Jai ho’, Rahman’s Oscar winning song, filled the air. The chant at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, many would swear, was magical.
