AR Rahman has composed the music score of this futuristic love story set in a megacity where water becomes a rare commodity.

Our source said, “The plot has two conflicting societies divided into halves. The upper society controls the water supply and refuses to provide water to the lower society. A boy and girl from the two classes fall in love. After having directed films internationally, Kapur wants to make an impact once again with Paani. He has been wanting to make the film for the last three years as the water shortage issues disturbed him.”

Interestingly, Kapur, who is also a part of the jury at Cannes, made news when he forgot to carry his formal suits, which are mandatory for the film festival there. But things fell into place luckily for him.
